About the Consulier GTP

While visiting the factory that built the Consulier in August 2012, I was told only about 83 GTP’s were produced between 1985 and 1996.
(Although the oldest car I have see so far is a 1988)

20 of these GTP's were pure race cars.
8 were targa's
2 were roadsters (no top at all, no targa bar)
That leaves 53 hard topped street cars.
While at the factory I also saw a few unfinished cars, just bodies.
Not sure if this total included these unfinished cars or not.
I also heard later that they scrapped these unfinished cars.
One of the targa cars were fitted with a non-removable top.
One targa never had a top made for it (#19).

The Consulier GTP cars had 2.2 Chrysler engines just like you would see in a
1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby. Rated at 175 hp in stock form. They also had the
Chrysler sourced and built 555 Getrag 5-speed transmission.
The base model was called the Sport.
The LX upgrade included Recaro seats, Fittipaldi wheels, an Alpine stereo/CD system,
air conditioning, power door locks, power mirrors, power windows, tilt steering column,
and wool carpet. Other options were sunroof, carphone and security system.
